Happy Sunday!
You might tell from my Instagram feed that I am really living in the moment and have been enjoying the Swiss summer at it’s most outside. With the weather from its best side it would be a waste not to do so. As Switzerland offers so many different beautiful natural getaways it’s so hard to choose where to go (first world problems :P) But now autumn temperatures have settled in and therefore I’d love to share some of the pictures we took last weekend 🙂

My sister and I have been exploring hiking places just around the area we my parents live. Honestly speaking, I can nearly not believe what I missed out so for so many years.

The past weekend we drove by car to Bergün and from there we followed the hiking trail along the railway line. Walking all the way up to Preda offered us many beautiful spots with the beautiful bridges and natural water habitats. Not to mention the highlights when a train crossed our way over a bridge or we where lucky to spot it disappearing in the mountain into the tunnel.

The section of track between the Albula Tunnel and the Landwasser Viaduct on the Rhaetian Railway’s Albula Line shows an impressive work of engineering skills from the pioneering days of the railway. The Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina is even a UNESCO World Heritage Landscapes. It comprises the two world-famous railway lines, but also the wonderful landscape itself.

The sections of track between Preda, Bergün and Filisur are among the most spectacular anywhere in the world. On the new Railway Adventure Trail Albula you can even read about fascinating facts about the past and present of the railway and get exciting new insights into the world of the railway, its technology, cultural impact and the everyday life.

From Preda we took the railway down. And it’s really an amazing feeling when you get into the tunnel and then you spot the daylight a few hundert meters below. The train ride takes only 17 Minutes but it’s so impressive

Tip: The Albula Railway Museum in Bergün takes railway fans on a journey into the past. Pop into the museum before or after your hike if you have time.
