“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
― Dr. Seuss
Autumn has definitely arrived here in Switzerland. Today exactly at 16.21 pm the astrological autumn starts as the sun crosses the equinoctial point (meaning that day and night are exactly the same length). Not only the temperatures have dropped significantly but also the nature adapts secretly with small still noticeable changes. On one side I am a bit sad to leave the warm and sunny summer nights behind, on the other hand I couldn’t be more excited to wrap myself up in comfy jumpers and woolen scarves. Autumn hasn’t officially started, it’s still summer, and I feel we automatically jump (myself included) into jumper season and it’s even understandable as we are getting spammed with all the new Autumn/Winter Collections. As you may have noticed, with the change of season for me (and many other students) a new term has begun and now it’s time to engage the brain into academics.
I know that it’s easy to get myself chained to the desk and let the arrival autumn pass by without making the most of it. Keeping yourself busy with your job and not even considering recharging for the cold and foggy winter months. That’s what I usually did, when I was in my Bachelors.
Therefore, with the new season arriving, I want to share with you my favorite summer (and last) summer outfit. I hope you are not yet tired of them… When I look at the beautiful and amazing location and weather many memories from the summer months float into my mind and make me smile (if not even grin..). This summer I really grasped at the opportunity and made the most of the season im my home country. I did not travel far abroad but rather explored the beautiful countryside that I ignored to often. I went on many memorable hiking trips, swam in local lakes or just relaxed in the garden.
By doing so simple things (just stepping in front of the door ;P) I realized how beneficial these little things are to my physical and mental well-being. Therefore, I’ve set 3 intentions which I want to follow in the colder months too.
Go for a walk everyday.
No matter if it is just for 5 Minutes or the walk to University or to the shops. I want to step outside and spend some time consciously in the moment – not rushing anywhere but just being present. Noticing the environment but taking a break from work and everyday stress.
Have work routine.
I know this will be hard. The flexibility as a student challenges my (non healthy) habit to do too much and not stop until it’s done… Therefore, I really try to keep a reasonable timetable with finishing time.
Take time out.
Hello workaholic – no stop. I noticed in my gap year that a ‘real’ weekend is super essential to keep you motivated for the long run and even look forward to Monday again. A Sunday without work and a relaxing time with the family or friends doing whatever I enjoy. (Taking my sister as example <3)
Have you set any intentions for the new season? Do you want to change a bad habit try something new? Let me know!
